About Yoodi African Braiding
About Us
At Yoodi African Braiding, hair braiding is more than a style; it’s a tradition, an art passed down through generations, and a celebration of beauty and culture. Our salon is founded on authenticity, care, and years of hands-on experience in African Hair Braiding.
Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Yoodi African Braiding proudly serves women who want beautiful, long-lasting braids done by someone who truly understands the craft.
Our Story
Yoodi African Braiding was founded by Amina, who was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa. Her journey into braiding began when she was very young. Growing up, she spent a lot of time watching her grandmother, who was a respected African hair braider in their community.
Her grandmother often took her along while she braided clients’ hair. At home, Amina practiced with a doll she loved. What started as a simple way to pass the time quickly turned into something much more. Soon, she began braiding her cousins’ and neighborhood kids’ hair, and people noticed her natural talent.
As Amina got older, she turned her passion into a profession. As a teenager, she enrolled in beauty school, gaining deeper industry knowledge while perfecting traditional African braiding.
Bringing the Tradition to Las Vegas
After moving to the United States and settling in Las Vegas, Amina brought her deep-rooted expertise and cultural pride to create a salon dedicated to authentic African braiding.
That dream became Yoodi African Braiding.
The name “Yoodi” comes from the Fulani language and means “beautiful.” It represents the belief that every woman is a beautiful queen. That message is the inspiration behind the salon’s name and spirit.
